展覧会概要

伊藤雅恵の個展を開催いたします。これまで「VOCA 展」佳作賞や「トーキョーワンダーウォール都庁」などに入選。鎌倉画廊では2回目の個展となります。
近年では、花の写真と色鉛筆やクレヨンで制作したドローイングを基に、写実的な側面と流動的なストロークが際立つペインタリーな側面が共存している絵画を制作しており、花の図像と、物質としてのキャンバスの表面を、鑑賞者の知覚が行き来する画面が特徴です。また、キャンバス地がそこここに残る画面の中には、長いストロークや躍動するタッチ、擦り取った跡など、以前よりバリエーションを増した絵肌が見られます。そこには制作の軌跡を辿れるような素朴さがありながらも、不思議と強固さがあり、作家が構図の調和を重視し、難しいバランスでそれらを共存させたいと願っているからなのでしょう。以前から一貫してモチーフにしているのは心の動きであり、豊かなブラッシュストロークはその表現に欠かせないものとなっています。

Exhibition Overview

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition of Masae Itoh. She has previously received the Honorable Mention Prize at the “VOCA Exhibition” and was selected for the “Tokyo Wonder Wall” at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. This will be her second solo exhibition at Kamakura Gallery.

In recent years, Itoh has been creating paintings based on photographs of flowers and drawings executed in colored pencil and crayon. Her works combine a realistic aspect with a painterly quality distinguished by fluid strokes, allowing the imagery of flowers and the physical surface of the canvas to interact within the viewer’s perception. In her compositions, the raw texture of the canvas is often left exposed, while long strokes, dynamic touches, and traces of erasure enrich the surface with an expanded variety of painterly effects.

These qualities convey both a sense of simplicity—akin to following the very traces of her process—and a curious solidity, stemming perhaps from the artist’s intention to place equal importance on compositional harmony and the coexistence of these contrasting elements. Throughout her practice, Itoh has consistently explored the movements of the heart as her central motif, and her rich brushstrokes remain indispensable to this expression.
